How to Check Main Door Direction Correctly (Compass Method)
To apply Main Door Vastu correctly, the first step is to measure the exact direction of your entrance. Many people make mistakes by guessing the direction or using building orientation instead of the actual door position.
- Stand in the approximate centre of the house facing towards the main door
- Use a compass app on your phone
- Note the exact degree reading
- This determines the entrance pada (energy zone)
Important: The direction of the house and the direction of the main door are not always the same. Vastu analysis is done based on the exact door placement, not just the facing of the building.
Expert Note on Main Door Vastu
The main entrance is considered the most sensitive energy transition point in Vastu Shastra. It determines how external energies enter the house and how they influence health, finances, relationships and mental stability.
This guide is based on the 32-entrance model of the Vastu Purusha Mandala, directional energy behaviour, and real case observations across residential properties.
Rather than focusing only on house facing direction, the exact entrance position (pada) is analysed to determine whether the effects will be beneficial or harmful.

Vastu for Home/Flat Entrance: Direction Tips
Buying a Flat or House? Check the Main Entrance First
Before purchasing any property, the main door Vastu should be one of the first things you evaluate. In many cases, the entrance placement has a stronger impact on life events than the facing of the house itself.
- A correctly placed entrance can improve financial growth, stability and opportunities.
- A wrongly placed entrance — especially in the South-West — can create long-term instability and stress.
- The direction alone is not enough; the exact energy field (pada) of the entrance decides the results.
This is why experienced Vastu consultants always check the entrance position before analysing the rest of the house layout.
Why Main Door Placement Matters More Than House Facing
Many people focus only on whether a house is North-facing, East-facing or South-facing. But in Vastu, the exact placement of the main entrance has a much stronger impact than the general facing.
- The entrance controls how energy enters the house
- A correct entrance can improve stability, opportunities and financial growth
- A wrongly placed entrance can disturb health, relationships and peace of mind
- The exact energy field (pada) decides the final results
This is why experienced Vastu consultants first analyse the entrance before evaluating the rest of the layout.
Vastu for home entrance can be a vast subject in itself. There are so many possible entrances that one needs to be careful while deciding where to locate the main entrance of the house. One intelligent way of deciding the most suitable entrance for an individual is to calculate it on the basis of Astro Vastu.
We shall now discuss the 32 entrance in Vastu and the best places to open a house entrance as per Vastu.
Main door Vastu for NORTH facing house

If you live in a North facing house, your main entrance is located in the North direction.
North, as we all know is the direction of lord Kuber-the giver of wealth and riches. This is the reason why most people consider north facing houses to be the most auspicious.
However, the actual fact is that a North facing house is only as auspicious as the placement of its main door or entrance. In other words, the main door Vastu plays a major role in deciding the auspiciousness of a north facing house.
There are eight energy fields in the North direction. Out of these only four are auspicious and must be chosen while doing the Vastu for home entrance.
Main Door Locations in NORTH Direction-
| Deity | Deity Description | Pada Location | Benefits of House Entrance Door |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mukhya | Vishwakarma – main deity of the building, architect of the universe | N3 | Fulfillment of wishes, manifestation of desires, considered highly auspicious |
| Bhallat | Power of abundance, magnifies wealth | N4 | Immense wealth and prosperity, magnified abundance |
| Soma | Associated with the Moon and Kuber; represents nourishment and wealth | N5 | Ability to convert effort into money, profits from work, spiritual upliftment |
| Diti | Mother of asuras, grants vision and liberal thinking | N8 | Broader perspective, clarity in decision-making, success and increased wealth (may not always be ethical) |
Remember, most Vastu experts recommend a North East entrance without actually specifying the exact energy field. There is another devta called Shikhi in North East (refer the images of 32 entrances).
Opening an entrance here can be disastrous and can lead to accidents related to fire and financial losses.
Therefore, while doing the Vastu for North East entrance, you must exactly know where to locate it and where to avoid.
North-West Entrance Vastu — Good or Bad ?
A North-West entrance as per Vastu is considered one of the more sensitive and unstable placements. Unlike North or East entrances, this zone is associated with fluctuating energy, movement and mental restlessness, which can disturb long-term stability.
- Entrances in this zone are linked with instability, frequent changes and lack of consistent support.
- They may increase arguments, misunderstandings and emotional stress within the household.
- Over time, this placement can create uncertainty in career, relationships and decision-making.
In traditional Vastu interpretation, the North-West region is associated with energies represented by Papyakshama, Roga and Naga. These zones are believed to amplify conflict, jealousy, health disturbances and rivalry if activated by a main entrance.
Quick Answer: A North-West entrance is generally not recommended in Vastu. It is considered an unstable zone that may lead to stress, disputes and lack of long-term support. Whenever possible, it is safer to avoid selecting a house with a North-West main door.
Remember that a North West entrance is prohibited as per Vastu. This is because the asuras here namely Papyakshma, Roga and Naga are giver of disease and death. They are responsible for increasing jealousy and enmity for the residents and thus sometimes prove to be very dangerous.
Main door placement in NORTH to AVOID
| Placement | Negative Effects | Pada Location | Associated Issues |
|---|---|---|---|
| Roga | Diseases, enemies, risk of violence | N1 | Bone-related illnesses such as arthritis or osteoporosis, increase in enemies, potential for violent incidents |
| Naga | Excessive craving, jealousy | N2 | Strong material desires, heightened jealousy among residents |
| Bhujag | Health disturbances | N6 | Kidney-related issues, cold, cough, and eye-related problems |
| Aditi | Rebelliousness, unconventional behaviour | N7 | Female members becoming rebellious, possibility of inter-caste marriages and family resistance |
NOTE : For a detailed understanding of all the 45 devtas and asuras of the Vastu Purusha Mandala, you may read out comprehensive article here – Vastu Purusha Mandala and the 45 energy fields.
In case your entrance is wrongly placed, it can be remedied using certain metals strips or wires. However, if possible, you must ensure that the main door is placed as per Vastu correctly.
Main door Vastu for EAST facing house

A main door in East is also very auspicious as per Vastu. Again, depending on its placement, it can give positive or negative results in case of East facing houses as per Vastu.
All energy fields extending for the North East to the South East are taken into consideration while locating a main door as per Vastu in East direction.
Main door placement Tips in EAST Direction-
Similar to North, there are eight energy fields in the East direction where the main door can be located.
The most auspicious entrances in the East are the fields of Jayant and Indra.
| Placement | Deity Description | Pada Location | Associated Benefits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jayant | Represents victory in efforts; fills the body and mind with zeal and enthusiasm | E3 | Success in undertakings, increased motivation, expansion of social circle, growth and prosperity |
| Indra | King of devtas; grants power of association, authority and administration | E4 | Strong connections with influential people, especially government officials; power, status and financial gains |
The auspiciousness of these two entrances can be understood from the fact that most of the ancient Hindu temples had their main entrance placed in these energy fields.
A few examples are the Tirupati Balaji temple, The Jagannath Puri temple, the Mahabodhi temple in Gaya etc. These temples are powerhouses of energy and one of the reasons for this is their entrance placement.
Main door placement in EAST to AVOID
| Placement | Pada Location | Associated Issues |
|---|---|---|
| Shikhi | E1 | Risk of fire-related incidents, financial setbacks |
| Parjanya | E2 | Increase in unnecessary spending, tendency toward financial imbalance |
| Surya | E5 | Heightened anger, aggressive behaviour, reduced importance of male members in the household |
| Satya | E6 | Tendency toward dishonesty, failure to keep commitments, relationship conflicts, possibility of extra-marital issues |
| Bhrisha | E7 | Unreasonable anger, irrational behaviour, overthinking without results, risk of separation or divorce |
| Akash | E8 | Possibility of thefts, frequent accidents, sudden financial losses, issues with government authorities |
Main door Vastu for SOUTH facing house

For a long time, entrances in the South have earned a bad reputation. In fact, most of the novice Vastu experts simply reject a house because its entrance is in the South direction.
Is a South Entrance Bad as per Vastu?
A South entrance is not automatically negative. In fact, certain placements in the South direction can bring fame, authority and strong financial growth.
The results depend entirely on the exact energy field (pada) where the entrance is located. Only specific zones — especially the South-West — are considered highly sensitive and must be handled with extreme caution.
This is why rejecting a property just because it has a South entrance is one of the biggest Vastu myths.
These are nothing but Vastu myths which you should simply ignore.
The truth is that a lot of successful businessmen have their entrances in the South direction. Also, a large number of factories designed as per Vastu have their main entrance in the South. Thus, there is nothing to be fearful of.
In fact, some of the most powerful Shiva temples face south. These are the Kedarnath temple, the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirling and the most recent Adiyogi statue consecrated by Sadhguru in Coimbatore.
All of these face south and thus south cannot be a negative direction always.
However, some of the entrances in the south are extremely negative. Therefore one should be very careful while doing the main door Vastu of a South facing house.
Do remember to avoid a South west main door as per Vastu under all circumstances.
Among all placements, the South-West entrance is considered the most inauspicious and must be avoided wherever possible.
For a deeper understanding of why the South-West zone is considered the most sensitive in Vastu, you can read this detailed guide on South-West corner Vastu.
A lot of people ask as about the main door remedy for a south west facing entrance.
Though you can reduce the effects of a south west face entrance to some extent by blocking it with a brass wire, it is still advisable to completely avoid such a house or flat.
Main door placements tips in South Direction-
| Placement | Pada Location | Associated Benefits |
|---|---|---|
| Vithatha | S3 | Immense prosperity, strong problem-solving ability, strategic thinking and success in competitive environments |
| Gruhakshat | S4 | Fame, reputation, authority and wealth; especially beneficial for business owners, factories and leadership roles |
Let’s look the positive & negative entrances in the South direction:
The most auspicious doors in the South direction as per Vastu are the energy fields of Vithatha and Gruhakshat.
Barring these two, the rest of the entrance in south east and south west are negative and must be avoided at all costs.
Main door placements in South to AVOID
| Placement | Pada Location | Associated Effects |
|---|---|---|
| Anila | S1 | Weakens cash flow, may negatively affect the well-being of the male child |
| Pusha | S2 | Tendency to work under others; acceptable for salaried jobs but unfavourable for business owners |
| Yama | S5 | Severe negative effects such as diseases, debts and heavy financial burdens |
| Gandharva | S6 | Extreme poverty, financial and mental instability, digestive system–related health issues |
| Bhringraj | S7 | Wastage of efforts, monetary losses, excessive expenditure, relationship problems |
| Mrigha | S8 | Severe financial losses, difficulty recovering from setbacks, risk of property being sold off |
Main door Vastu for WEST facing house

West is the direction of darkness like the East is the direction of light. Thus, a lot of Vastu experts suggest avoiding a West facing house or flat.
This is another Vastu myth.
Main door placements tips in West Direction
An entrance in the West direction can be extremely positive and bring in huge financial success provided it is placed in the right energy fields.
Let’s understand the best and worst main door as per Vastu in the West direction.
| Placement | Pada Location | Associated Benefits |
|---|---|---|
| Sugreev | W3 | One of the most auspicious entrances; ideal for traders and businessmen, brings strong growth, prosperity and supports children’s education |
| Pushpdant | W4 | Linked with Varun’s energy; supports financial stability, consistent income and steady prosperity |
| Varun | W5 | Represents universal control and authority; can bring prosperity and success but may also increase over-ambition if not balanced |
You must avoid the remaining energy fields in the West direction while doing the main door Vastu of a house..
Main door placements in West to AVOID
| Placement | Pada Location | Associated Negative Effects |
|---|---|---|
| Pitra | W1 | South-West entrance; considered highly inauspicious, may bring instability, financial struggles and potential impact on longevity |
| Duawarik | W2 | Instability in relationships, fluctuations in career and lack of consistency |
| Asur | W6 | Persistent fatigue, low physical strength, drained feeling, depression and risk of illness |
| Shosha | W7 | Physical weakness, emaciation, delays in progress, addiction tendencies and lack of vitality |
| Papyakshama | W8 | Skin-related problems, tendency to use unlawful means for growth, possibility of legal troubles |
Main Door Opening Direction as per Vastu
The main door opening direction as per Vastu holds a lot of significance. The preferred main door opening direction is often influenced by cardinal directions and their associated elements. Here’s how to decide the opening direction of the main door :
| Aspect | Clockwise (Right-Hand Opening) | Anticlockwise (Left-Hand Opening) |
|---|---|---|
| Alignment with Natural Hand Movement | Aligns with natural movement, as most people are right-handed | Opposite to natural hand movement for the majority |
| Positive Energy and Opportunities | Believed to support smoother entry of positive energies | Less recommended due to potential disruption in energy flow |
| Pranic Influence | Right side reflects Pingala naadi – active, dynamic and energetic | Left side reflects Ida naadi – calm, passive and cooling |
In essence, Vastu advises aligning both the opening direction and the positioning of the main door to optimize the inflow of beneficial energies into the living space.
In Vastu Shastra, the preference for doors to open on the right-hand side (clockwise) is based on several principles and cultural symbolism.
Here are a few reasons why this practice is recommended:
- Alignment with Natural Energy Flow: The right side represents the direction of the Sun. Thus, a main entrance door opening clockwise aligns with the natural energies of the Sun
- Symbolism of Progress: The right side is often associated with progress, growth, and positivity in many cultures. Opening the door in a clockwise direction is believed to welcome these attributes into the home, fostering a sense of advancement and well-being.
- Energetic Harmony: Vastu emphasizes the balance of energies within a living space. A right-hand opening door is thought to promote a smoother and more harmonious flow of energy throughout the house, enhancing the overall atmosphere
- Cultural Tradition: In many cultures and religious practices, the right side is considered auspicious and respected. This tradition has been carried into architectural and design principles, including the placement and orientation of doors.
- Circulation of Prana (Life Force Energy): Vastu places importance on the circulation of prana or life force energy within a space. Opening doors on the right-hand side is believed to facilitate the free flow of this vital energy, contributing to the well-being of occupants.
It’s important to note that while Vastu principles provide guidelines for designing spaces, individual preferences, practical considerations, and architectural constraints should also be taken into account when determining the direction in which a door should open.
9 Important Tips for Main Door Vastu
- The main door of the house should be the largest among all.
- While doing the main door Vastu of a North facing house, always use shades of brown, blue, black etc.
- For an East facing house, use shades of green and brown as per Vastu
- Choose shades of red, maroon, brown and orange while doing the Vastu for home entrance for a south facing house.
- Grey, white and metallic colors are ideal for a west facing house entrance.
- The main entrance should have sufficient and proper lighting.
- The main door should always open clockwise.
- It is best to make a wooden door and avoid metallic doors. Wood being a natural material has high energy vibrations.
- Always place the name plate to the right side (when you enter the home) of the main door.
House entrance Vastu- Important DON’TS
- The main door should not make any squeaky noise while opening or closing.
- Avoid placing a shoe-rack in front of the main entrance.
- The main door should not directly open into the living room as per Vastu. Therefore, it’s better to have a small passage before the living room.
- Avoid placing any God idols outside the main exit door.
- Avoid a main entrance directly facing a on a T-point crossing.
- Do not make a septic tank or keep a dustbin or garbage bags in front of the main gate.
- Main door Vastu suggests that if a door is broken or damaged, you must replace it immediately.
- Avoid keeping any plants outside the front door if you live in a west facing house.
- Always avoid a main door directly facing a staircase or lift. Some people also use mirrors as a Vastu remedy to negate the effect of a staircase. You must avoid this and be very careful with placement of mirrors at the main entrance.
5 Common Main Door Vastu Mistakes to Avoid
1. Assuming Direction Alone Determines Results
Many people believe a “North-facing house” is automatically auspicious.
Reality: A North entrance in N1 or N2 (wrong padas) can cause more problems than a correctly placed South entrance at S3 or S4.
2. Ignoring the Exact Pada Measurement
Using rough estimates instead of compass readings leads to incorrect pada identification. A difference of just 5-10 degrees can shift the entrance from an auspicious pada to an inauspicious one.
3. Confusing House Facing with Entrance Direction
A “North-facing building” doesn’t mean the main door faces North. Always measure the door’s direction independently.
4. Blindly Following Generic Remedies
Generic remedies like “place a mirror” or “hang wind chimes” don’t address structural Vastu defects. Southwest entrances, for example, cannot be fully corrected with surface-level remedies.
5. Overlooking Post-Entrance Energy Flow
Even with a perfect entrance, if energy immediately hits a wall, staircase, or toilet, the benefits are nullified.
What should be placed on the main entrance door ?
Most people want to know what can be placed in front of the main door ? Here are a few Vastu tips to remember
| Auspicious Symbols and Elements | Vastu Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Om Symbol or Swastika | Place auspicious symbols like Om or Swastika on the main door. A blue Swastika is ideal for North-facing entrances, while a red Swastika is suitable for South-facing entrances. |
| Green Plants | Small green plants are beneficial in front of the main door, except for West-facing entrances where they should be avoided. |
| Fountain (for North/East facing houses) | Placing a small fountain near the entrance can enhance positive energy, especially for North or East-facing houses. |
| Toran | A toran (decorative door hanging) is considered auspicious. Choose colours based on the direction of the entrance. |
Stairs or steps in front of the main door as per Vastu
| Scenario | Placement of Stairs | Vastu Recommendation |
|---|---|---|
| Independent House | Stairs in front of the main door are acceptable. Create a landing area or platform between the steps and the entrance. Avoid entering directly from stairs into the house. | Stairs are fine if a landing area is provided. Direct entry from stairs into the house should be avoided. |
| Flat | Avoid a staircase directly in front of the main entrance door in flats due to shared common spaces. | Not advisable, as external energies and movement from common areas can directly affect the entrance. |
| Limited Choice | If unavoidable, it is better to have stairs going upwards rather than downwards in front of the entrance. | Prefer upward stairs to reduce negative impact when there is no alternative. |
As per Vastu principles, the placement of stairs in front of the main door holds significance, depending on the type of dwelling. When options are limited, choosing stairs going up rather than down minimizes adverse effects. This helps in aligning with Vastu’s aim for harmonious energy flow.
Which God’s photo / idol can you keep on the main entrance?
The choice of which God’s photo to place at the main entrance door often reflects personal beliefs and cultural traditions.
In Hindu households, Lord Ganesha is commonly placed to invoke blessings and remove obstacles, while Goddess Lakshmi signifies wealth and prosperity. However, we recommend you not to keep any such idols outside the main door.
The simple reason is – neither does one regularly clean the photos or idols kept there nor does one pray to those idols. You do not want to make Gods or Goddesses your door keeper and not thank them for their blessings.
If at all you want to keep – it is best to place religious symbols like Swastik , OM or Riddhi Siddhi.
For Sikhs, a Khanda can symbolize protection while for Christianity, a cross could do the same. A crescent and star can be a preferred symbol of protection for the Muslims.
Ultimately, the selection should resonate with the household’s spiritual connection and intentions. It’s important to consider the deity’s significance and the positive energies it brings, harmonizing with the energy of the home and its occupants.
Toilet/bathroom in front of the main door as per Vastu
Placing a toilet in front of the main door as per Vastu can be extremely detrimental. Toilets are places of extreme negative energies and if they’re in front of the main entrance, they completely distort the energies of that area.
Even if you have auspicious entrance, it is unlikely to give you any positive effects if you have a toilet right opposite the main entrance door. Thus, it is best to completely avoid a toilet or bathroom in front of the main door.
Mirror in front of the main door
Modern interior designers prefer placing a mirror in front of the main door. Some people think it can double your wealth while others say that it can ward off negative energies.
The choice of placing a mirror on front of the main entrance depends on the direction of your entrance. For an entrance in North, East or West, a mirror is permissible. However, one must completely avoid placing a mirror in front of a South East or South main entrance door.

Thanks for your kind words Naveen ! I’m happy that you’re planning to incorporate the insights while constructing your new house. Wish you all the best!
Is this the direction that you face when you step out of the house or the direction from the center of the house to the location of the main door?
Both would be same. The easier way is to consider the direction when you’re stepping out of the house
While measuring the angle, I see that the angle on Google maps, True North and Magnetic North differ a lot. Which one should I be using?
You can use either of them. Generally we use magnetic North. I think there’s a small magnetic declination of about 1.25 degrees in India . So you can use both.
I am a civil engineer with 36 years experience. I found your site full of useful information , and wonderful research. It will be really good if you can provide some actual plans of houses for each direction, with the position of septic tank ,water sump and stairs .

Hi Abhishekh,
Thanks very much for this. We live in a flat and the main door faces the East, but I can’t gauge which energy field it faces. The door does not face the staircase coming up or down, but it does face the opposite flat door. Also it opens anti-clockwise,both the door opening direction and facing the opp house can’t be helped. A major issue is the front door doens’t get natural light but a tubelight which isn’t always very bright. The absence of natural light doesn’t let my plants thrive and most don’t survive, which is distressing. The positives are the main door is kept clean and opens into a lobby like welcoming area, but faces the opposite wall, with a bookcase filled with books. We thought overall, it was hopefully good vastu., but my husband has consistently suffered ill health in the two years we’ve been here, (continued from ill health in previous house and city for a few years– many niggling but severe pains) and my career sees success that seems to have blocks, something not coming through at the end moment — I’m a writer and researcher and I almost got admission into ivy league colleges for Phd and inexplicably they panned out. Our bedroom is in pure west, and we’re faced to sleep with head in west. My home office where I write is in West too, my desk faces east, is against a wall and the table is a solid rectangular wood, elegant, but I frequently have issues with enthusiasm and faith in my work.
Are there solutions you could please suggest for us to help my husband’s health and stalled creative career to also take off?
Many thanks for reading this detailed note. I’d really appreciate your help
Hello Shruti ! I read through your message and will need to study your floor plan in detail to be able to assist you. There could be a possibility of some major Vastu defect which you’re not able to identify. In case you’re looking for a Vastu consultation, you may call or WhatsApp me on +91-7797237411
sir my 1 bhk flat main gate is facing 310 degree north west . Please suggest it is good or bad and what do you suggest to make changes
A NW entrance is generally not a good one. Will have to study the floor plan to be able to advise correctly
Hi Abhishek
Just to know what line should be taken as ref to North. For example if I divide the circle into 4 quadrants, then where true North line N1 coincide, at N1 or N5, similarly East line at E1 or E5
I didn’t really understand your question. The reference line must be 0 degrees North.
Thanks for this wonderful info.
I have one query, my flat entrance facing is OK and its at 18th floor, but my building entrance comes in somewhat South East direction. So, does building entrance is also equally important as per vastu or we can ignore it. Please help.
Thanks.
Raj
What does flat entrance facing being OK mean ? It is not just the facing of the entrance that matters, it is the location which is more important. And the building entrance can matter to some extent depending on certain situations. If you don’t own the building, you may choose to ignore it as of now.
Hi abhishek sir,in tiracha plot North East ’61’ degree North ‘0’degree For Residence Lift entrance in N3 N4 is inside connected
to GF+FF+SF+TF is it main home entrance. or staircase entrence in frant of Main door in N6 N7 which is consider main entrance N6 N7 is .not good for residence entry .pl replay
I did’nt understand your question. However, the main entrance in N6 and N7 must be avoided. But you really need to be sure of the exact location of the main door .
Hello Abhishek,
My house entrance is South facing with degree of 185. Flat is on 1st floor and it has stairs on the right side of the door i.e. on the West. Please let me know your suggestions on the same.
An entrance at 185 degrees in not a good one. And I didn’t understand what kind of suggestions are you looking for ?
I live in a rented house that has a south-east entrance (when looking from inside towards outside the house). Does direction matter only when one owns the house? If not, then what remedy can I use to mitigate the impact of wrong direction?
The direction matters irrespective of the ownership of the house. Even if you’re in a rented house, the house will affect you. South East is not the best place to have an entrance. However, before recommending anything, ” need to study your floor plan.
In depth information.. amazing! Just a question how to find the best zones in the direction . Is there any tool or compass available for it?
Unfortunately no compass or tool can do that. It’s best to consult an expert for this.
The main entrance door of our flat is located at direction E1 [Shikhi]. What are the remedies?
What is the problem you’re facing ? Entrance remedy will require a proper analysis of your floor plan. There are no general remedies to treat entrances.
Hi
Requested one view on main door direction :-
Is it ok that Main Door placement in N4 Bhallat zone & facing of doors I.e. opening is at East direction.
Yes a main door in Bhallat opening in East is good.
Sir my flat main gate in asur direction.now what we can do ? Internal structure is according to vastu only main gate problem
A main door in Asur pada is not good as per Vastu. Consult an expert and get it corrected.
Hello Sir, the entrance of my flat is SE 132 degrees and there is a cut at entrance (means flat is in slight L shape). Can you guide how it can be auspicious/ inauspiciously? Thanks
A cut in any direction is not auspicious as per Vastu. I suggest you to contact us or any other Vastu expert to resolve this .
Hi,
I stay in Dubai. My apartment(building) facing north east, but my rented flat (ground floor) is facing ( when I go out from flat) south west (i.e. 210 to 220 degree approx.).
In front of my flat other flat is there. My flat hall and bed room (north -east) are getting good amount of air and sun.
Other things like- kitchen, washrooms, store room are looks good as per vastu.
Question/Help: Is that the good flat to stay ?
If not, what can I do for remedy if does have any ?
Regards,
SUNIL SAHU
Hello !If your flat entrance is in the South West, that’s not a good placement. I would generally advice to avoid such houses. ALso, we need to check other aspects before advising the solutions. It’s not a one size fits all approach.
Hi Abhishek Is the ideal way to find/identify the entrance based on the plot area or a planned area of the house on that plot? Is the ideal way to find the direction of the house based on the Brahma sthan or by standing in front of potential entrance? Is the Google Earth Pro location (e.g. 23°49’57″N 91°17’23″E) from the centre of house/plot accurate facing north enough to find angle of house? i.e. is it safe to confirm accurate angle of an east facing house from brahma as 91°17′ as per the Google Earth pro location?
Clockwise opening of the main door is from inside of the house entrance ? correct ?
The directions are to be taken from the centre of the plot. You need to calculate the centre differently for the plot and the built-up area.
Thank you for the detail article. While i understood the most, i have one question. In a south facing independent house, can I have a main door that is facing east in Vithaha or S3 part of the plot? Also can a main door be below a staircase? The staircase is going to the first floor of the house.
Yes you can surely have an East facing door in a South Facing house. The pada of Vithatha is a good location for an entrance door. Ideally it is best to avoid and entrance door under a staircase.
Hi, Can we place a main door in pushpadant zone of house ?
But our hall is in north west zone, so main door is coming at south west corner of hall but at pushpadant zone. Kindly please advise.
Yes Pushpdant is an excellent location for the entrance. Does’nt matter if it falls in the SW of the hall.
es Pushpdant is an excellent location for the entrance. Does’nt matter if it falls in the SW of the hall. You have to check the entrance location from the center of the house and not from the hall.
Namasthey Sir, Can we have main door at pushpadant pada ? (our plot is west facing )
Our hall will be in north west zone, so this main entrance is coming at south west corner of hall but will be at pushpadant pada.. Is this advisable ?
Namasthey Sir,
Our plot is west facing and our plan contains main door at Pushpadanta, however our hall is in north west zone, so this main door is coming at south west corner of hall..
Is this a vasthu defect ? Please advise
As mentioned in your other comments, it is not a Vastu dosha
Can you suggest effective remedies for doors opening anti clockwise? I stay in a longterm lease so I don’t have an option to change it to anticlockwise opening.
There’s no standard remedy. It depends on the direction where the entrance door is.
The door is in gruhastak and vithara but opens anticlockwise
The entrance location is good.
My main entrance is mainly in gruhastak and little in vithatha. Thankyou for the detailed explanation, we got this apartment based on your article and realised the doors are anticlockwise after signing the lease..
That’s a good entrance location if your calculations are precise. Place a red coloured doormat there to balance the overall energies.
What are the effective remedies for anticlockwise doors when we can’t change them?
Remedies will depend on the exact location and direction of the staircase. There is no standard remedy .
Dear sir all these are taken for site area or built area
I has to be done for both separately
Sir, My main door is in the N5 zone, but it is an east-facing door. When I project the line of the main door, it falls in the E3 and E4 zones. Is this a good placement as per Vastu?
E3-4 entrance is a very auspicious one. Since, the distace is only 7 ft, I’m assuming that the staircase falls somewhere around the NE or East zones. That’s not the ideal placement but will have to check the exact plan and comment.

What will be the agreed direction, if it falls exactly at the junction of two zones? For example, a flat I am looking at has the door in the exact North East, i.e., the line between N8 and E1.
So the direction is North East as u mentioned. What’s the confusion ?
Hello sir, I am planning a north facing house whose main parking iron gate is coming in N6, N7, N8 and the main entrance of the house with wooden door is coming in N3, N4. Is this correct according to Vastu
The main gate in N6 and 7 are not good. N8 is ok. Also the one in N3 and 4 is ok
Very informative article specially for people who cannot consult vastu experts. Thank you so much for sharing your valuable knowledge. My main gate entry from outside is although in the east of the house but when you see with a compass it 46NE. There are two entrances to the house then one 55NE and the other 140SE. Which entrance should we use as we cannot make any changes because it’s a rented house.
The entrance in the NE is generally better than the one in the SE. So i would suggest you to avoid using the SE one since it can cause financial losses and health issues. It’s recommended to consult an expert and get this treated.

One which is 55NE and the other 140SE. We can’t make changes as it’s a rented house. Which wooden door entrance should we use and any remedies please 🙏

Very nice and useful detail information, never read before. Sincere Thanks for sharing indepth knowledge of directions. Can you please update one query about left and right side of door. For any building suppose on East side if there are two flats side by side, placed left side and right side. As per Vastushastra, in same direction left side flat or right side flat is best good for purchase?
There is no standard answer for this query. it depends on the overall Vastu of the flat. left or right side does not matter as long as the Vastu is good
My main door entrance is on the east, but it is on the Surya dwar, and I am facing negative consequences. It is difficult to change the placement or alter now. Are there any remedies without having to break the door and move it further?
There are remedies but I can’t comment without checking the layout. And it also depends on the kind of effects that you’re witnessing. Can you elaborate more on these so that I can help ?
Hi Abhishek,
Thank you, for this very informative post. just one question relating to the diagrams, the sections are color coded (Red, blue , yellow, green) is there are legend to that of that, does in mean anything (+ve/-ve) for that area , would love it if you could shed some light on those aspects.
Thank you
Hello ! Thanks for your kind words. Each section ( devtas) is represented by a particul color in the Vedic texts on Vastu. Thus the color coding. It’s not realted to any part being positive or negative. It’s just the attribute of that particulr devta.
